"What are Little Boys Made of" Birthday Party

How cute is this "WHAT ARE LITTLE BOYS MADE OF" BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Haley Tukere of Lovely Like You?! Such a splendid theme all about boys! I just love it.

Haley said-- “Having just started my new petite event business in Auckland, New Zealand called 'Lovely Like You' my sons first birthday was the perfect occasion to kick things off!

I wanted a theme that was original, age appropriate and although for a boy still soft and lovely to look at. After much thought, the old ‘What are Little Boys Made of?’ nursery rhyme seemed perfect for my little guy:

'What are little boys made of?
What are little boys made of?
Frogs and snails
And puppy-dogs' tails,
That's what little boys are made of.'

We are surrounded by gorgeous parks and given it was summer and we were talking ‘boys’ the outdoors seemed a great place to host the party.

I kept an element of rustic with old wooden crates, hessian (or burlap in the US) and brown card. Baby blue softened the mood and a dash of red here and there added punch to the overall colour scheme.

The main table was loaded with sweet treats, which included the chocolate 'frogs', 'snail' sweets and long marshmallow 'puppy dogs tails'. Delicious snail topped mini cupcakes and frog cake pops were created by Miss Melicious Cupcakes. My fabulous sister took on the challenge of sprinkling the cake (quite a task!) and my husband, who is a designer, created all the labels and tags.

Parents lounged on big mats under umbrellas and the kids enjoyed the park, sack races, egg and spoon races, the tee pee and the little store on the corner (named by my husband to the older kid’s amusement the 'Pip Pop Plop Shop’).

The children were given 'puppy dog tails' to wear and they took home a paper bag of froggy treats. It was a lovely day- relaxed, gorgeous and fun!”

What a creative idea! I absolutely love the frog pops - I wish I knew how to make them....I'm guessing honeydew, white chocolate, and junior mints?!?! That might actually taste pretty good too!
